Due to difficulty navigating this route, with the many unmarked trails, and keeping a large group together, I will consider this a mapless/no drop ride and I am limiting the ride to 12 riders, including the ride leader. Due to the history of 2-3 riders canceling or not showing up, I will allow 15 riders to register. When or if I get 15 registered riders, I will close registration and label the ride as full. So, if you really want to do this ride, register early before it closes! If the ride is full and you would like to be added to a Wait List, please text or email the ride leader and you will be added to the ride roster if cancellations occur.
This is an “Adventure” ride that will have us riding up and down the Mississippi River Gorge on paved trails that can be very rough in places. We will also be riding a 3-mile loop in Fort Snelling State Park that is mostly on gravel trails. A gravel bike would be an ideal choice for this route, but any bike with 28mm or wider tires would also work. The 3-mile gravel loop in Fort Snelling State Park can be skipped if you don’t have a bike with wide tires.
There are 2 planned rest stops. The first will be at the Fort Snelling State Park Visitor Center at mile 11 for a quick restroom break. The second will at Loons Coffee at mile 20.
Park your car in the south Como Pavilion parking lot. Restrooms are available at the start. The ride briefing will be at the picnic table between the Pavilion and the waterfall.
After ride refreshments are available at the Dock and Paddle at the Como Lakeside Pavilion. Happy Hour pricing starts at 3pm.
A cue sheet would be useless for this route, so I will not provide one. But the Ride with GPS route will be useful!
