**FULL** Scenic Meander
Due to difficulty navigating this route with the many unmarked trails I will consider this a mapless/no drop ride and I am limiting the ride to 12 riders, including the ride leader. Due to the history of 2-3 riders canceling or not showing up, I will allow 15 riders to register. When or if I get 15 registered riders, I will close registration and label the ride as full. So, if you really want to do this ride, register early before it closes! If the ride is full and you would like to be added to a Wait List, please text or email the ride leader and you will be added to the ride roster if cancellations occur.
This is a hard ride to classify because of the extreme amount of turns (about 4.5 turns per mile) and lots of ‘punchy’ hills. When I rode it, I averaged a C pace at about 11 MPH, but I felt like I rode an AB ride, so I will classify it as a B ride. I will lead this as a mapless, no-drop ride.
This is a very scenic route that will take us from Como Park and meander west through Langford Park, Prospect Park, University of Minnesota Campus, Boom Island Park, Nicollet Island, Gold Medal Park, Hampden Park, and Como Park.
Some of the trails on this route are old, rough and unpaved and some of the roads are worse! There are also parts that will require you to carry your bike down some stairs and a couple of short walking sections. So, I recommend using a bike with at least 28mm wide tires and shoes that you can walk in. A gravel or mountain bike would be ideal.
The rest stop will be at FRGMNT Coffee at mile 19.
The ride briefing will be in the grassy area between the pavilion and the Hamm Memorial waterfall.
Park your car in the parking lot on the south side of the pavilion. If that lot is full, there is a parking lot on the north side of the pavilion. Restrooms are available on the north side of the pavilion on the lower level. The route starts on the bike trail on the south side of the pavilion.
After ride refreshments are available at the Dock and Paddle at the Como Lakeside Pavilion. Happy hour pricing starts at 3:00 pm.
I will not have any route maps or que sheets at the ride start, so please download the route onto your GPS bike computer, Ride With GPS app on your smart phone, or to print a map and cue sheet, click the GPS Route Link below, then click on More in the black box above the ride name, then Print Map & Cue PDF then Print Official
