Lift Bridge North
Please join us on a most scenic fall ride from the ever-popular Lift Bridge Brewery in Stillwater to points north, including the Mayberry woods around Big Marine Lake, the roller coaster of Norell Ave., and the thrilling descent of Fairy Falls Hill. This ride began in 2018 and has been a popular event a number of times since.
The long route is 41 miles. Route link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41080605 There is a 33-mile short-cut option as well (Route Link: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/41081030) that splits from the long route at the 16-mile mark, rejoining two miles later. However, there is no rest-stop on the short route.
We'll ride the warmest part of the day (A predicted high of 73 degrees!) and there should be some early Fall color!
The route is a mix of flats and rolling hills and has no major climbs to deal with. There will be a rest stop at The Big Marine Lake Store at mile 18. We'll coast down Fairy Falls Hill, then ascend the river bluff on the very gradual and scenic Brown's Creek Trail.
We will strive to keep a true B-pace. That would be an average of around 14 to 15 mph at the finish. Most likely we'll split into two groups with the leader guiding the B-group. If you can maintain a B-pace you will be OK! A/B riders are most welcome and expected of course. I will try to appoint a Ride Leader for the faster group if possible. We will start the ride at a relaxed warm-up pace for the first few miles.
A concise, large font cue sheet will be provided.
The brewery taproom opens at noon for your pre-ride needs. No... that does not mean a beer. That's for later.
We will celebrate our effort afterward with a Lift Bridge brew, or If you prefer, their site-brewed classic root beer is a very good option!
Come along with us!
