Road conditions look very good.
I am planning to ride my road bike with 700x28 tires.
For those that want to ride with me at a B pace,
I would be happy to lead from the front for a follow-me ride.
For those that want to go at a different speed,
please download the ridewithgps.com route to be able to ride on your own.
Please do note that if riding with me,
there may/will be opportunities to modify the route slightly,
maybe even add on a couple more miles if the spirit (and the weather) moves us!
PARK TO PARK (WINTER) is a MAPLESS SCENIC SOCIAL NO-DROP ride basically up along the Mississippi River on the west side to Coon Rapids Dam, then cross over Dam to ride on the east side through Coon Rapids on to Anoka for a rest stop at about 18 miles, then back on the west side of the river.
Unlike regular PARK TO PARK, this cold weather edition favors roads, in order to avoid wet leaves and possibly ice.
As usual, pace is usually a brisk B but we’ll adopt one suitable to all. Mike Beadles will lead.
LOCATION: The Carl W Kroening Interpretive Center is just south of North Mississippi Regional Park, located between I-94 and the Mississippi River at 49th Ave N.
Please park south of the building.
DISTANCE: The ride is usually about 40 miles but there’s always a shorter bailout route.
TERRAIN: Mostly flat.
DRIVING ALERT: Please check MnDOT for detours.
WEATHER may cancel the ride, so if in doubt please check the RIDE CANCELED, DELAYED OR RESCHEDULED forum or TEXT or call the ride leader.
