OKAY, THE REVISED ROUTE IS OUT HERE SO PLEASE MAKE SURE TO GRAB IT.

I haven’t started a ride at Walton Park for a while, mostly because of all the road construction work around the area. And lots of it is still going on! The City Offices won’t be open on Saturday, but bathrooms and water are available at the start. This is another one of my routes that looks a lot like cooked spaghetti tossed on the map, but it’s actually kind of a fun route to Stagecoach Trail and back. I only have one rest stop planned at about 17 miles. We may see a colorful little portable toilet along the way, but I didn’t notice anything else. And bring food and water since we don’t stop anywhere to buy stuff. There are bathrooms, water and vending machines at the I-94 rest area where we stop, but that’s it. WE GO THROUGH LAKE ELMO AT ABOUT 26 MILES SO COULD STOP AT HAGBERG'S IF YOU'RE STARVING AND JUST CAN'T GO ANY FURTHER WITHOUT ADDITIONAL NOURISHMENT. THERE'S ALSO A BASEBALL TOURNAMENT GOING ON IN LAKE ELMO SO WE'LL NEED TO BE CAREFUL GOING THROUGH TOWN AS THERE MAY BE A LITTLE MORE TRAFFIC THAN USUAL. UNFORTUNATELY, THERE'S ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON A COUPLE ROADS THAT WE WOULD USUALLY TAKE TO ZIP US AROUND THE OUTSKIRTS.

Look for me on the north side of the Oakdale City Hall/Police Station in the big parking lot on the west side of Hadley Avenue.

Wind is predicted to be E and then NE so a little headwind going and hopefully a tailwind on the way home. I'M ROUTING US OFF THE HIGHWAY AND DOWN 5TH STREET TO KEATS INSTEAD OF DOWN THE 10TH STREET HILL. Then onto 10th Street and new pavement  for a mile or two before we turn south into some pretty nice neighborhoods. We’re on several residential area roads on both the south and then north side of 10th Street and eventually get dumped out on Stagecoach Trail and take the trail into the I-94 rest area for our rest stop.

The route back is pretty exciting and goes up a couple little hills and down a few out to Lake Elmo Avenue (remember, maybe additional traffic due to baseball tournament) and east onto busy Stillwater Blvd. We’ll CAREFULLY turn LEFT before the traffic circle on 31st and follow Stillwater Blvd. TO HADLEY (instead of Granada) WHICH HAS A NICE SHOULDER AND PRETTY MUCH A DOWNHILL ALL THE WAY BACK TO WALTON PARK.

B/C pace averaging around 12.5-13 mph at the end. Faster riders welcome to ride ahead. Revised map/cue sheet loaded so please print, download or commit to memory (good luck with that!) especially if you plan to ride off over the horizon and can’t hear me yelling “you missed the turn”!

Rain or any ugly weather and ride likely will be canceled. Any questions, don’t hesitate to call or text me at 612-381-6711.
