This is a slightly different route because of some additional roads. It’s about 8 miles longer than my “original” version. This is a very good ride for windier days because of the shelter along the route and we don’t go in any one direction for very long.

We’ll head toward the Coon Rapids Dam before heading toward Anoka. Then we’ll go north from Anoka up into the sand plains where we’ll see how many street signs we find with names of the different “Elements” and "Mineral" names.. We also get to ride the rollercoaster boardwalk :).

Because of the additional mileage we’ll make a brief stop at Bill’s (mile 24.4) before taking our coffee break at Caribou Coffee in Ramsey at about mile 42.  Once break is over we’ll head back to Anoka along the Mississippi River. When we are back in Hennepin County we’ll add a few more miles before heading back to the start/end.

This ride is submitted as an mapless, A/B ride, but not because of the faster pace. We’ll probably average more of a B pace. I highly recommend that you download the GPS file…provided for the route so you can go any speed you like or if you get separated from the group.
As with all of my rides, and as many riders have experienced, I often change up the route as we ride. If you have the route in some type of navigation device you might miss the real time route changes, but you’ll get back to the start/end.

We’ll meet at Highpointe Park in Champlin. There is a satellite at the park.

Today, 10-14-21, we wouldn't get the benefit of much warmer temps only some stronger wind speeds if we start later so we’ll keep the earlier start time. Dress accordingly…

IMPORTANT: The ride briefing is at 7:55 am with the ride leaving promptly afterwards. Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the ride briefing to get yourself and your bike ready to ride.
