LINDA HAS GRACIOUSLY AGREED TO LEAD A LITTLE FASTER GROUP AT A B PACE. YOU'RE WELCOME TO RIDE WITH HER. OR ANYONE WHO'D LIKE TO RIDE A LITTLE EASIER AT A HIGH C OR LOW B/C PACE (AVERAGE AROUND 12ISH MPH) IS WELCOME TO RIDE WITH ME.

I thought this route was pretty squirrelly but I ran it last Saturday and everyone seemed to like it. It’s very flat, uses a couple short stretches on the Hardwood Creek Trail and goes through some nice neighborhoods with smooth pavement. The wind is supposed to be SW again and this route seemed to work pretty well for that. Still a little wind in your face occasionally, but not too bad. I know I don't usually run the same route twice, but this was kind of fun so thought one more time wouldn't hurt!

Ride starts at Hugo City Hall/Lions Park and bathrooms are available in the new Lions Park Community Building or in Hugo City Hall. Maybe some portable toilets along the route if needed but a rest stop is cued in at the Holiday Station when we cross Hwy 61 at 14.8 miles. Then a nice loop mostly with a tailwind and only 10 miles back.

Route is out here so please download to your navigational device of choice, pin to your phone or print it off. I won’t have any maps or cue sheets. You can, of course, just follow me.

I plan to ride at a B/C pace and average between 12-13 mph at the end. Faster riders are welcome to grab the route and ride ahead. If you’re a fairly strong C rider and can average around 12ish on flat roads, you’re welcome to join us. If another ride leader would like co-leader credit and be willing to ride sweep, let me know and you’ve got the job!

If forecast changes and rain, wet roads or anything else unpleasant, ride will be canceled. Please check the Forum, Ride Calendar or please call or text me at 612-381-6711 if any question about ride going.

    Social Gathering Before/After

Please park at the south (furthest) end of the lot.

Join your compadres on a route along gently rolling roads in the northeast metro, most of which have good shoulders or are low traffic.  There will be a 'no pass the leader' warmup for the first few miles. Expect to average around 14-15 mph at the end of the ride.  There is also an A/B group (see separate calendar entry).   All self-sufficient riders welcome.  Post-ride refueling at a local establishment if there is interest.  Andele! Andele! Epa! Epa! Yeehah!!

Please pre-register for the ride, which will be available until ride start time.  It makes it easier for the ride leaders and ensures you get ride notifications and mileage credit :)

Be sure to download the route onto your GPS bike computer or print a map and cue sheet.  No maps will be available at the ride start.

You must be a TCBC member to ride, unless this is your first ride with the club in which case you can pre-register as a guest.

    26674 144th Ave Way
    Welch, MN 55089

We ride two beautiful trails, the Cannon Valley Trail and the Hay Creek Trail. We’ll first ride to Red Wing. Those wanting to do 40 miles will return to Welch and then on to Cannon Falls for lunch. For 52 miles, we will continue on 6 miles to the end of the Hay Creek Trail, then head back to Red Wing and on to a break at Welch (and a clothing change if needed) and on to Cannon Falls and lunch. After lunch, we ride back to Welch for a total of 40 or 52 miles. For the optional 20 extra miles to reach 72, choose between a round trip to Cannon Falls or Red Wing from Welch. As an alternative, we may drop the Hay Creek portion and add the new trail to Lake Byllesby. Daily pass, $7; Season pass, $30.

    ( 29 mile gps file  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/22487498 )

There are several places to stop along each of the routes.

There are Restrooms at ride start and along the way

Several excellent places to eat after the ride.

An excellent cue sheet and map will help self-sufficient faster and slower riders find their way.

Questions call Mike Kubes at 651-247-0770

Mostly on county roads, with some trails.

Easy miles generally, depending on the wind.

FYI - As your leader, I will be riding at B-Pace and may ride any of the routes. Many riders will be averaging 15MPH or more, but I always strive to add another leader for the faster paced riders.

Please note: Although I don't make a practice of cancelling, this ride may be cancelled for cold, rain, snow or extremely wet roads. I do ride in cold (down to 40F), but not on icy or snowy roads. If in doubt about cancellation, please contact leader.
