We ride two beautiful trails, the Cannon Valley Trail and the Hay Creek Trail. We’ll first ride to Red Wing. Those wanting to do 40 miles will return to Welch and then on to Cannon Falls for lunch. For 52 miles, we will continue on 6 miles to the end of the Hay Creek Trail, then head back to Red Wing and on to a break at Welch (and a clothing change if needed) and on to Cannon Falls and lunch. After lunch, we ride back to Welch for a total of 40 or 52 miles. For the optional 20 extra miles to reach 72, choose between a round trip to Cannon Falls or Red Wing from Welch. As an alternative, we may drop the Hay Creek portion and add the new trail to Lake Byllesby. Daily pass, $7; Season pass, $30.

This classic ride is rather flat, smooth, scenic, with miles between most stops.

There are 29 and 45 mile options.

    ( 29 mile gps file  https://ridewithgps.com/routes/22487498 )

There are several places to stop along each of the routes.

There are Restrooms at ride start and along the way

Several excellent places to eat after the ride.

An excellent cue sheet and map will help self-sufficient faster and slower riders find their way.

Questions call Mike Kubes at 651-247-0770

Mostly on county roads, with some trails.

Easy miles generally, depending on the wind.

FYI - As your leader, I will be riding at B-Pace and may ride any of the routes. Many riders will be averaging 15MPH or more, but I always strive to add another leader for the faster paced riders.

Please note: Although I don't make a practice of cancelling, this ride may be cancelled for cold, rain, snow or extremely wet roads. I do ride in cold (down to 40F), but not on icy or snowy roads. If in doubt about cancellation, please contact leader.

    Get me there
    Mississippi Crossings Event Center
    307 E River Pkwy
    Hennepin County, United States 55316

Access East River Parkway from West River Road. (Confusingly both are on the West side of the Mississippi River!) Access is from West River Road between Highway 169 and the Elm Creek dam. There are two access roads right next to each other. The correct one turns left to the event center and the wrong one turns right and dead ends at a boat ramp. When you get on the correct access road (East River Parkway) you will immediately see several entrances into the large Event Center parking lot. You may take any of the entrances.

Because of trail improvements in early May 2024, a slighty different (and shorter) version of this route is being followed. This route is available from RWGPS as is the cue sheet. When construction is completed, the downloadable route will be updated for future rides.

This ride will average 12mph or less. This is a no-drop ride. The only rest stop planned is at the Elm Creek Chalet about 10 miles in, so bring your own snack.

This ride takes place mostly on the nice (and hilly) bike paths inside Elm Creek Park. The start/end venue is close to the park in order to maximize our time inside the park. The venue has another nice attribute: it is close to the Two Scoops ice cream parlor in Anoka. For those who want to, after we return to the finish area the first time, we can then ride to Two Scoops, have a scoop or two, then return to the finish to end the ride.

Outdoor toilets are available at the start seasonally. They are also available year round at the Elm Creek Park Singletrack trailhead about 2 miles from the start.

This will be a hilly ride inside Elm Creek Park. Expect some very slow climbs and some faster descents. A no drop ride, with average speed adjusted down from 12mph if needed.

A slightly shorter variant of this route is possible. Tell the ride leader at the rest stop if interested in cutting out 3 miles.

Here’s what I’m thinking of doing this Thursday from Oakdale. It’s supposed to be fairly windy from the NE, so I’ll use the Gateway Trail up to Manning. Then we’ll start heading south going through some nice neighborhoods eventually going over the Hwy 36 bridge, down the 50th Street hill and heading back.

Bathrooms and water available at the Oakdale Nature Center Discovery Center building. Also, possible portable toilet stops at Millbrook Park at 11 miles, Brown’s Creek Park at 12.7 miles or a rest stop with food at the KwikTrip in Liberty Ridge at 15.7 miles. Then the trail south along Manning with just a couple little bumps, the two little trail segments with the rocks, out to Stillwater Road and work our way back by Lake Jane.

Route is loaded, so please download to some trusty navigational device, pin to your phone, print a cue sheet or follow me. I’ll be riding at a nice B/C pace and average around 12.5-13 mph at the end. Route is rolling terrain and we go down the biggest hill (50th Street).  Faster riders are welcome to grab the route and ride ahead.

Any rain in the area or nasty, gusty winds and ride may be canceled. Please check the Forum, Ride Calendar or call or text me at 612-381-6711 if any question about ride going.

Carol has created a 25-mile route that should work well with a northeast wind, so we're going to use the same route as the B/C group this week. Please see her B/C ride description for details. We'll be going a little slower and will probably make a couple additional short stops for water breaks and clothing adjustments.

Restrooms and water are available in the Oakdale Discovery Center building. Please check the TCBC ride calendar or the Forum for cancellations or rescheduling before leaving home, and call or text Lyle at 612 516 2053 with any questions.

    Social Gathering Before/After

Hey - Come on out and join us for a little easier Lift Bridge Ride.  The loop is 26 miles instead of the “A” group 32 or 35 mile routes and the pace will only be 15 to 17 mph average.

We will start out the first few miles with an easy warm up and be on a slightly different route than the “A” group.  However, we may run into them in a few different spots, for sure we will see them for the social refueling following the ride.

Please pre-register and utilize the RWGPS Link.

    Lift Bridge Brewery Ride

Faster A Group - 20-21 mph Average For Ride - 35 mile route includes Nason Hill: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42759344
A Group - 17-18 mph Average For Ride - Traditional 30 mile route this week: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42759375

The Lift Bridge Ride is back for yet another year!

This ride features a descent of the very exhilarating "Fairy Falls Hill" and then a gradual climb from the valley of just two miles on the Brown's Creek Trail. Overall, the terrain is quite flat for a route in the St. Croix River Valley.  We will stay together for a warm up through town and out to Dellwood Rd (MN 96), then the faster A group may split off and a secondary group that averages 17-18 mph will stay together for the remainder of the ride.

Stay for socialization and refreshments (Including their delicious site-brewed root beer) afterward if you desire. Some snacks are available as well at the brewery, but they do not serve any food.

Rain may cause cancellation at the leaders' discretion.

    Hope to see you there!

HyVee is in the Plymouth Station shopping area. We will meet in the back of the parking lot, west side.

Come join us on this fun and spirited ride that runs along many scenic and low traffic roads through Hamel, Loretto, and Medina. There are a few rollers that add to the excitement. Typically this is a fast ride, we are looking to add an A ride group and keep the AB ride too.

Due to county road 19 construction, we are going to take some Baker park bike trails. GPS is updated.
